Childrens Hospital visit

Cameron and I left the house this morning at 4:45am and arrived at Children's just in time for his appointment. The Genetic Physician was very sweet and she loved Cameron, despite the crying. He was having a tough time. I think the combination of the long drive, teething and a cough was too much for him.

The Doctor did measurements and his left arm still seems to be the most prominent bulk. She does not think he has BWS or any other Syndrome. It's looking like isolated hemi. This still means the 4 month tummy ultrasounds and the 6-8 week afp blood testing. The blood tests will be done until he is around 4 years old and they will stop the ultrasounds at about age 12. So, it's going to be a routine for us. Apparently there is a blur between Hemi and BWS that means the screening needs to be the same even if it appears isolated. Better safe than sorry. If they did find cancer, early detection is key. That's why the afp is so frequent, it's pretty progressive.

Cameron should lead a very normal life and he will get used to the tests. I just need to monitor him a little closer compared to the older boys but that's about it.
